Norm stands inside the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering shortly before its opening to the public in the fall of 2018. The design for Norm Asbjornson Hall broke with the tradition of building with red bricks to bring a new aesthetic to the Montana State University campus.

MSU broke ground on Norm Asbjornson Hall on September 22, 2016. The 110,000 square-foot building features 10 classrooms, 17 laboratories and a presentation hall. The building hosts the MSU College of Engineering and the MSU Honors College.

"This building contains the dreams of many people," Norm said at the groundbreaking. "It can facilitate and encourage the education and dreams of students."

Norm Asbjornson Hall opened to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 14, 2018. Hundreds of students, faculty, alumni and other well-wishers joined Norm and his family for the celebration.

"Whenever you set certain goals for yourself and you exceed them, there is a feeling of wonderment," Norm said. "A lot of my life now is of wonderment because I exceeded what I originally thought it could be."
