Advancement at American Standard and Singer did not go unnoticed within in the HVAC industry. In 1977, Norm was contacted by a corporate headhunter. He accepted a position with Mammoth, a division of Lear Siegler, in Plymouth, Minnesota, where he worked as vice president of national and international sales.

During his time at Singer and Mammoth, Norm travelled internationally to sales conferences and industry gatherings. He spent the Thanksgiving before the Shah of Iran was overthrown in Tehran at the American Air Conditioning Show.

International sales taught Norm about the many cultural differences that exist throughout the world and how those differences dictate the way business is conducted.
