As Norm’s career was taking off he maintained his passion for flight.

After Norm graduated from Montana State College in 1960 he was offered two jobs that piqued his interest. The first offer of $525 per month came from Boeing, the aerospace company headquartered in Chicago. The second offer of $450 a month came from American Standard who wanted Norm to work in its heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit.

Norm felt the sales engineering position at American Standard better fit his personality and abilities. He accepted the lower offer and moved to Omaha. He would later say it was one of the wisest decisions of his life.
