Fundamental Requirements

1. Measure and catalog the current draw of the roughing pump.
2. Possessing a current resolution of 11mA/24mA for the 220V/120V pump respectively.
3. Measure and catalog the temperature of the roughing pump motor and pump.
4. Measure the oil level of the roughing pump.
5. Efficiently designed for 1-12 roughing pumps.
6. Sensor output must be compatible with variety of microcontrollers.
7. Total design budget costing under $500 per unit costing under $200.

Secondary Requirements

1. Notify the user if the pump parameters go outside the known region of operation.
2. Notify the laboratory Manager by email/text message/automated phone call if a fault occurs.
3. Design each component to be capable as a standalone unit.
4. Takes up minimal lab space and is aesthetically pleasing.
5. Noninvasive current measurement.
6. Measure current in both the 220V/120V roughing pump voltage configurations.
7. Detachable allowing for equipment servicing.
