Wind Applications Center

Summer 2010 Installations

Starting in mid-May, 2010 the summer interns from the Wind Application Center set out to assemble and setup six Skystream 3.7 wind turbines across the state. This program is part of the same wind for schools program that enabled five schools in 2008 to have turbines assembled at their locations. The 2010 installations are in Lewistown, Townsend, Valier, Glasgow, Wolf Point, and Forsyth. These were all done over a period of 4 weeks.

The crew that assembled the turbines consisted of MSU WAC Interns Nate Cox and Phil Johnson as well as State Facilitator Sean Micken of REsolve Energy. Each project required two full days on site. The first day was for the foundation and the second day was for assembly and erection of the turbine and tower.

Over the next few months the performance of these newly installed turbines will be viewable online for anyone who is interested. As of right now, there are still some smaller installation tasks to be completed before the turbines are running.

If you are experiencing problems with your Skystream 3.7 or the communications system please check out South West Wind Powers Troubleshooting or contact the WAC.
