Energy Systems Research

M&IE faculty members are actively developing and characterizing several new energy technologies for the next generation of aerospace/aeronautic, ground transportation, and stationary power systems. These new technologies offer significant potential to decrease fossil fuel dependency by harvesting the power of the wind and sun through new windmill and solar panel technologies, integration of these renewable energy technologies in the current heating and cooling infrastructure, improving hydrocarbon combustion efficiency and decreasing harmful emissions with ceramic fuel cells, investigating the design and effectiveness of thermoelectric power generation, as well as looking at new energy solutions fueled by a hydrogen economy.
