Design Fair Posters
Each Capstone 2 Team
must participate in the End-of-term Design Fair, held the
last Thursday prior to Finals Week. The Design Fair is OPEN
TO THE PUBLIC, and is usually very well attended by fellow
students, instructors, administrators, community members,
and tour groups.
event is the FINAL for the Capstone 2 course, and is an
opportunity to boast of your successes and show off your
project. To enhance communication and to clearly illustrate
your project, a PROFESSIONAL QUALITY POSTER is required. The
Design Fair Venue provides a table for each design team upon
which you can display your prototype, and a backdrop upon
which you can mount your poster.
- Posters should be
approximately 3' X 4' or larger. COLOR is required.
- It is suggested
that groups create a one-document poster using POWERPOINT
or similar program: Arrange for Printing at one of the
local printing shops (e.g. CopyCats in the SUB, MSU
Printing Services, Kinkos, Staples, etc.)
- The use of small
pages pasted onto posterboard is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED!
Groups displaying posters with nonprofessional appearance
will be docked points.
- The GROUP is to
bear the costs associated with printing.
- IMAGES and PHOTOS
are vital to the content, Words should be used
sparingly, and bulleted talking points should be carefully
crafted to be Concise and Accurate.
- Font sizes should
be LARGE; Use highly contrasting colors between background
and text; SPELL CHECK all text entries!!
- Each poster must
clearly state the Project Title, Class (EMEC/ETME 499),
Instructors (R. LARSON and D. MILLER), the FACULTY
ADVISOR, and ALL GROUP MEMBERS. The SPONSOR should be
prominently identified and thanked for the project.
- The poster should
CONCISELY define project goals and scope, including any
- Design Process
notes, IF included, should be minimized. (Project RESULTS,
not design process, should be the focus of this poster!)
- Features of
the Solution that you implemented should be highlighted.
CAD Model images, FEA results, and a good
(photographic) summary of your TESTING along with TEST
results should all be included.
- CLEARLY show how
your design meets the sponsor's requirements!
