I&ME 444R and 445R
Senior Design Project

I&ME 444 (2 credits) and 445 (1 credit) are taught as an integrated, project-based course.  Students are assigned to work on a comprehensive open-ended team design project in the Spring semester of their final year of undergraduate studies.  Teams are expected to create an engineered solution to a client's business or operational problem. They are responsible for all phases of the project, including:

  • understanding client needs,
  • project scoping and definition,
  • data collection,
  • idea generation,
  • engineering analysis,
  • documentation,
  • client communication, and
  • project management.

Oral and written communication skills are emphasized.

Most of the time in this course will be dedicated to project work. However, class will meet approximately once per week to take care of logistics, review project assignments, and conduct just-in-time training on pertinent topics. Teams will also meet with a faculty advisor on a weekly basis at a mutually agreeable time.

Please use the links at the left for more information about the I&ME Senior Design Project courses.
