Application Procedures
Thank you for your interest in the Electrical and Computer Engineering
(ECE) Department at Montana State University. The ECE department no
longer requires preliminary applications for admission to the graduate
department. The application process and requirements are outlined below.
Preference will be given to applicants who express interest in current
faculty research areas. Applicants may contact faculty via email to discuss research opportunities. Please note that
faculty are very busy and if they have graduate positions available,
they will be listed on the available assistantships web page. If an assistantship is not listed, then
faculty will most likely not respond due to their busy schedules and
the number of inquiries.
Application Deadlines:
Applicants who are citizens of the United States must have
their completed applications, including the $50.00 (USD=U.S. Dollars) online application fee,
filed (in the ECE Department) by July 1 to enter the Fall semester, November 15 for Spring semester,
and March 15 for summer.
International student application forms, credentials, test score reports,
and a $50.00 (USD) online application fee must be filed (in the ECE Department) by May 1 for the Fall semester,
September 15 for the Spring semester, and January 15 for the summer.
In addition, a signed financial certificate and a bank statement in English
with a balance of $25,000.00 (USD) must be provided with the application.
We accept applications throughout the year, according to the deadlines given above;
but, for priority consideration of admission with financial support,
domestic and international students’ complete
applications must be received by the following priority deadlines: for fall
semester by January 15; for spring semester by September 15; and
for the summer term by January 15.
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelors degree in electrical engineering is recommended. Students
with bachelor's degree in other areas are generally required to make
