Julian Collins has joined Montana State University’s College of Engineering as Designing Our Community (DOC) program director. Collins was program coordinator for American Indian Research Opportunities at MSU in Bozeman prior to joining the college. Before that, he was a full-time substitute teacher who coached football and basketball teams at St. Labre Catholic Indian School in Ashland, Mont. Collins has a bachelor of the arts degree in sociology from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. DOC partners with Native American communities in the northern Rockies and the northern Great Plains regions. These partnerships have led to MSU’s position among the nation’s most successful universities in graduating Native American students in engineering and computer science.
