The department offers graduate study leading to a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering degree, which is available with study areas in several traditional and developing areas of chemical engineering. The department also offers a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering and participates in the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Engineering through the College of Engineering. PhD options are: Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Applied Mechanics. Research areas in these programs include traditional chemical engineering and kinetics, biofilms and biotechnology, materials and the applied mechanics of materials, remediation of hazardous wastes and environmental engineering, magnetic resonance imaging and transport phenomena, and separations.
