Associate Dean Camper came to MSU in 1971 as an undergraduate student in microbiology. She was a student employee there, and after finishing her B.S. degree, began her research for her M.S. After completing her M.S., she worked as a researcher in microbiology, plant and soil sciences, and engineering until beginning her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in environmental engineering. Upon receiving her Ph.D., she was offered a faculty position in Civil Engineering, where she is now an Associate Professor. In 2001, she began a 2/3 time appointment in the Dean's office. In this position, she cultivates external funding opportunities for engineering students and staff, coordinates and develops graduate education and outreach programs, develops strategies to foster growth in research and outreach beneficial and complementary to our undergraduate mission, assists the Dean in new strategic initiatives, and provides assistance in management of the College. She continues to teach within Civil Engineering and has an active research effort in the Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE) that dates to the mid 1980's.

When not busy with academic endeavors, she is training her Belgian Malinois for performance sports competition or can be found with dirty fingers from landscaping and gardening.

Dr. Camper's research is described in detail on her Center for Biofilm Engineering page.
